SILVER SPIRIT FUND CAMPAIGN

September 2011

Dear Friends of South Anna Elementary School,

Every student who walks through the doors of South Anna Elementary School is a
success story waiting to be heard. They each deserve the very best of everything life has
to offer, and we are so fortunate to be able to watch their dreams start to take shape
during their time here at SAES.  We are writing to ask for your support for the Silver Spirit Fund campaign. The Silver Spirit Fund was established as the major fund-raising effort of the South Anna PTA in 2011/2012.
A successful fundraising drive will allow us to:

  • Purchase $6000 of special supplies/equipment & teaching tools as requests from teachers in K-5 & special Ed
  • Present programs such as Barefoot Puppets & other programming for school wide in-school assemblies
  • Recognize and support the SAES faculty and support staff
  • Purchase additional books, supplies, materials and awards for the library and AR
  • Offer fun family events such as Skate Night, Spring Run and Reading Night
  • Participate in the National PTA’s Reflections program
  • Make a donation to the Patrick Henry Scholarship Fund, (two students receive $500 each).
  • Purchase musical rights for the SAES annual musical.

These are all extremely worthwhile programs, but they may not happen unless the South
Anna PTA can raise sufficient funds to cover the costs. This school year we
will need to raise $10,000, which approximately amounts to $20.00 per South Anna
student. Based on feedback from many families, we have found that the best way to help
us reach our fundraising goal is not to participate in catalog sales, but to ask for direct
donations. The PTA receives no funds from the county or any other organization. We
know you want to be supportive, but we also appreciate that schedules are busy.
Students have other important priorities, such as homework and after-school activities. So
we are dedicated to making your support of the Silver Spirit Fund as easy as possible.
There are some important things to remember about donating to the Silver Spirit Fund:

  • Contributions may be tax-deductible ! Many employers offer to match contributions to non-profit organizations
  • All contributions go directly to help our students, faculty and the goals of this PTA
  • It’s a whole lot easier and more efficient than other fundraisers (catalog sales)

To participate, all you have to do is send in the form you received in Tuesday folders or just write a check with "Silver Spirit Fund SAES" in the memo.

Return the form,  along with your check made out to the SAES PTA. You can send in your
donation through your child’s backpack, drop it off at the main office, or mail it directly
to the school. We will also have collection sites at Back-To-School Night. We have a
very BIG goal. We would like to have $10,000 in the Silver Spirit Fund by September
30th.  If all of the great families at SAES can step up to support the Silver Spirit Fund at
whatever level you are comfortable with, we CAN make this happen.
Remember that ANY contribution will help us meet our goals. Our children work
extremely hard. They deserve our support. Please use the form below to help us make this
a year they will remember for the rest of their lives. Thank you for your support of the
South Anna PTA.

Sincerely,

Fiona C. Ailor & Erin Baskind
President  & VP Fundraising, South Anna Elementary PTA
